Laura Ashley's 'Design a T-Shirt' Competition Offers Kids the Chance to Help Those Less Fortunate than Themselves

Much as we adore our children, there's no denying that the summer holidays last an awfully long time - especially when the hot weather seems to have taken its own summer holiday, inconsiderately packing up and deserting UK shores just in time for school to break up.

Miserable days cooped up indoors are a recipe for "but there's nothing to do!" disaster so, as any mother will know, keeping idle hands busy is essential. What better time to nurture your young one's creative talents by encouraging them to put pencil to paper and enter the Laura Ashley Design a T-shirt competition?

The contest runs until September 10 and is open to entrants aged 2-8. Entries will be split into two age groups (2-5 and 6-8), with a winner and two runners up being selected from each. Your young artists can choose one of two themes to base their picture around: 'days at the seaside' or 'picnics in the park'.

Two winning designs will be featured in the new Laura Ashley Girlswear collection (due to launch in Spring Summer 2011) with the selected artists also winning a ?250 Laura Ashley giftcard each.

In addition, 100% of the profits from every winning t-shirt sold will go to Barnardo's children's charity, meaning the competition is also a great opportunity for your children to help kids less fortunate than themselves.
